About
the photographer
I’m Michon — a God-led woman, a wife, and a mama to three babies who each taught me something new about strength, surrender, pure love, and rebirthing different versions of myself. Born and raised in the bayou of Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, just south of New Orleans, I carry my roots and faith into everything I do.
Birth has never been just "an experience" for me, it's a calling. I’ve birthed three babies naturally, two of whom were born at home. Each birth experience lit an unexplainable fire in me and deepened my passion to learn, grow, and serve in the birth world. Throughout this journey, I studied in depth the use of herbs and holistic living to support my own pregnancies and births. I have an extensive knowledge of herbal remedies and have had the honor of sharing my wisdom with other women. In addition to becoming a certified birth photographer, I've completed doula trainings and pregnancy + postpartum education courses. Yet, above all, life itself has been my greatest teacher.
I hold a B.S. in Kinesiology, Health Promotion & Wellness from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Holistic living has been the default setting for the majority of my life. I believe birth is not only physical, but it's also mental and highly spiritual. My journey as a naturalist and holistic woman has allowed me to have insight into all things working together: mind, body, and spirit. So this work is not just me showing up to your birth with a camera. Each birth, like my own, is a spiritual experience. When I step into a birth space, I bring my whole heart, my faith, and my reverence for the sacredness of the moment.

Having been through three laboring experiences of my own, I know just how much can happen in those sacred hours. Most people never get a chance to see those moments again, and many mothers have a hard time recalling.
My goal is to help mamas by capturing the emotions in labor, make birth visible in a beautiful, and truly honor women during such a sacred transition.
I've shared a bit of my story, now I'd love to learn about you.
